A magnet for future students!

The video of this is too cute. A group of curious youngsters walk around the Cybertruck pointing at the parts, they peaked in and there is a large owl on the screen that says, “Recording”, they ran off but undoubtedly will have a story to tell about the Five Points Academy Cybertruck.

Our attention getting Cybertruck is photographed so much I daily see updates when passer bys get close to the vehicle. It goes into sentry mode and records, selfies and curious students that want to know more.Theyʼrephotos usually include our magnetic QR (Quick Response) code that sends them to our website. Weʼve already been offered press based on our effective form of advertising. We are now offering tours to interested families. This program is proving to be effective for letting folks know who we are and what we are about.

Help by the truckload!

We recently received two trucks of tables, white boards, smartboards, lockers and more! Jennifer, myself, and several movers worked into the evening unloading these massive trucks that dwarf the cybertruck. Angie Guignon helped score this massive haul for Five Points Academy 100% donated and valued at tens of thousands of dollars. Great job Angie and thank you so much from our future students.

Back to the Future at the Five Points Jazz Festival

Our vehicle attracted a lot of attention. We were positioned on 28th and Welton at a main entrance to the 2024 Five Points Jazz Festival. At times the truck was completely swarmed where we handed out promo and met with families. Whatʼs the connection between the Cybertruck and Five Points Academy?The school will use the truck as a rolling billboard/physics cart/promotion vehicle over the next year. One of our schoolʼs objectives is to prepare students for jobs that havenʼt even been invented yet. The cybertruck embodies that future thinking perspective.

Going into next weekendʼs event we will be celebrating Juneteenth. This is a holiday celebrated on June 19th to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved people in the US. Our school specializes in education technology for the future. Education technology has the ability to free a population. In the classic the Narrative of the life of Frederick Douglas, Mr. Douglass talks about how the slaves were not allowed to be educated.They werenʼt allowed to read and write. Frederick as a young boy tricked white children into teaching him how to write. Eventually he learned to write the entire alphabet. And even more pertinent to our school and our mission we find Mr. Douglas was kept from knowing the definition of a particular word, ABOLITIONIST, a person who wants to stop or abolish slavery. With our education technology we have the ability to truly empower students to learn any subject of their choosing. We specialize in learning the words. We as educators hold the light of freedom to not just help students but to empower them to help themselves for their lifetime, to help others and to be great leaders that will not stand for the darkness of human rights violations. As a teenager I was greatly impacted by the Denzel Movie, Malcolm X. There was a scene where Malcolm started to read the entire dictionary. It was a pivotal moment that always stuck with me.He learned the wordsa nd a er that he could study. It helped put me on the road to real education.

Despite Detroit Red (Malcolm), being imprisoned he had an awakening, he could learn. He was no longer a slave to ignorance. Truly abolishing slavery needs to include empowering future community leaders with education. We at Five Points Academy are striving towards that goal.
