Summer Time for Camp!

Cybertruck in Capulin, CO

Before summer camp started we had the cybertruck in theS an Luis Valley where Gail and I showed it to a summer reading program in her hometown,Capulin CO. The program director thanked Five Points Academy profusely for bringing such a cool, “spaceship” to their town! Volunteering to show the truck at different times is helping to spread the word about our school.

The book was given to the library and a few of the children had already read it! They put it on display and our Five Points Academy Quick Response code is on the inside cover. Other volunteers included: Dayna, Kaitlyn, Jonah, Kevin, and my son Emilio. The event was 12-8pm Saturday and Sunday where we were seen by tens of thousands of festival goers. Our booth looked great and we talked with many families and leaders in the community. Part of starting anything new is the humble beginnings. Whether it's the seed of a mighty oak or the embryo of a powerful emperor, all great things come from humble beginnings. Education is no different. Harvard started with just nine students. Mark Siegel from the magnificent Delphian school shared a memory with me about the staff being so excited for their very first student who wasn’t a staff kid. “We were all excited and really didn’t know what we were going to do, we didn’t have much curriculum, we would write the courses the night before”

"Whether it's the seed of a mighty oak or the embryo of a powerful emperor, all great things come from humble beginnings. "

With two middle schoolers and even a high schooler added to the mix we were able to tailor- make math programs that will help these students throughout their careers. Summer Camp is study, play, study, play. It's a great combo that parents, students and teachers love. It keeps learning fun, engaging and moving!

the second week of camp, More students!

Gail Martinez taught at Delphian School for five years as the International Entry Supervisor. In this position she worked with dozens of students and families from all over the world. At one time while we were coaching girls varsity basketball we had five languages on the court at once! We are extremely lucky to have her and the experience she brings to the summer camp. This makes it an extreme value for any campers and their families who sign up this summer. We have daily and weekly rates available to fit multiple types of schedules.

FPA campers work on their foursquare skills after a game of kickball.
Adams County Fire medal bestowed on Five Points Academy

Wherever I go in the Cybertruck I run into peoplethat have questions. One Adams county fireman was so impressed with our school's mission and the Cybertruck he bestowed upon FPA a challenge medal and a message of good luck and wishing us all well on our mission. The challenge coin is to help a community build bonds and good will. We thank Adams county and their token of friendship and well wishes. Our humble beginnings will be remembered welland we look forward to looking back at all our growth down the road. During the Juneteenth event a church Deacon asked if he could pray for me and my family for help in bringing education to FivePoints. I of course said "Sure!” The little prayer was very sweet and earnest by a guy that just wanted to see our school thrive. He knew how important education is. And so I thank you all who continue to water and nurture Five Points Academy; volunteers, patrons, holy men and prayer warriors. Like aseed brought to life there is always a bit of magic to make something exist in this tough world.Let us keep nurturing this seed of our humble beginning.

With you in Education,
