Mark Siegel Arrives to Denver with Cybertruck

Mark looks over the United States Air Force Academy Cadet facilities. We were invited to put the truck in front of the visitors center and talked to visitors from all over this great nation.

Gail and I finally picked up the truck Thursday the 9th of May and it was a non stop promotion of Five Points Academy. With a “big head Mark” (Cardboard) in tow we kept promoting the Mark Siegel event, “The Two Things Every Parent Should Know When Choosing a School.”

It was also my sons Junior Prom over that weekend in Alamosa and we used the opportunity for Gail and I to tell students a bit about our school and were invited onto Alamosa High School property to show several classes the truck. Many took pictures, asked questions and engaged Five Points Academy with, “What is that? And who makes that car? What is it?! And
other expletives!

The next adventure was on to the Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve where we met several Park Rangers. One gentlemen has been on post for over 30 years and he certified that we were the first Cybertruck to ever be at the National Park. The first Tesla at the Sand Dunes was in fact the Martinez’s Models S #580 the Second Tesla in Colorado, only behind Elon Musk’s brother, Kimbal Musk who lives in Bolder CO.One of the scenes from My book, “The Ugly Truckling” takes place at the Great Sand Dunes. I presented the ranger with a gift that will hang at the park Below: From left, Delphian alum

I could barely read and she helped salvage my education. You can imagine how great it it felt to contemplate the impact of helping one student learn how to learn. Then, how important is it to launch a school that does this day after day, week after week, year after year? It’s more important than probably any of us knows.

Thanks to Ed Gigion we were able to get a great table where, Police, Health professionals and even City Council man Darrel Watson met and became aware of Five Points Academy. We brought the Cybertruck and met one of the lead research assistants. We were able to show the truck in
the parking lot, give a ride and present the library with a copy of, “The Ugly Truckling”. He invited Jennifer Jmeiff and I back to use the facilities anytime and he enthusiastically
took promotion for our event and school to be displayed at the library. One community member was a bit standoffish but when he came to find out he knew my dance teacher, Mrs Hayes, from Cole middle school and that my sister Sahara attended Manual High School he enthusiastically received a copy of the book for his own daughter. It was a great event and great people when they learned our intent to help bring the best education to the community.

The first day with the real Mark Siegel event was a marathon! Our first stop was the Team from the Space Foundation in Colorado Springs. Its the end of the year and several were gone to local schools to implement end of the year aerospace education activities. The Education Program Manager of the International Teacher Liasion Porgram,
Jennie Anderson greeted us and we were able to take the entire team as well as one very enthusiastic handyman at the facility for a ride in the Cybertruck.

After the Space Foundation we were off to meet Raj Solanski. Raj is currently the Principal of an alternative education high school, Community Prep Charter School, in Colorado Springs, Colorado that services 200 students. The purpose of the school is to help re-engage at-risk students, who for a
variety of reasons did not make it in public high school, and ensure they complete their high school education and receive a diploma. The school’s model is unique in that students engage in self-paced learning instead of traditional classroom instruction.

We were immediately rushed by a family of Cybertruck enthusiasts!

Mark and I stopped by the Denver Zoo, We were immediately rushed by a family of Cybertruck enthusiasts! Each child asked for a piece of promo and we had to give the family a book. The smiles, the enthusiasm, the love. I feel
the truck embodies what our school is about, a different way to do things, a simplified yet technologically advanced education endeavor and we plan to bring the smiles.

Mark has been beating the drum for proficiency based education since Delphian’s inception and several schools, including Westminster, are working with that goal in mind. Mark cheered them on, challenged views and as always, offered his dedicated assistance. My dream for Westminster is to visit Delphian to see where first principals of education have been applied by Mark and other educators for over 50 years. The Mark Siegel event was a success where we made many knew friends and strengthened bonds with the many others that make up the Colorado education community. We met Saturday morning in Morrison where Laura hosted Mark, debriefed and went over our strategic plans. The beautiful smiles of this team have one goal: Bring great education to Denver. With that, we would love your help to fill our Summer Camp June 20th-August 1st. Send us emails, share contacts, or forward this update.

Let us know what families we might be able to serve.
